Daily Contact Lenses

Daily Contact Lenses Provided by a Lebanon, MO, Optometrist

Contact lenses give you the best of both worlds — a way to see clearly without bulky eyewear. For some people, contacts that you may reuse over a week, a few weeks, or a month are uncomfortable and inconvenient. However, daily contact lenses allow you to discretely have better vision and remain comfortable, even if you have dry eyes or don't want the hassle of having to remember to soak your lenses. At Butler Eyecare, serving Lebanon, MO, and the nearby region, we'd like to explain more about these contacts.

How Daily Contact Lenses Work

Like other contact lenses, daily ones work by directing light to the retina in the back of your eye. Prior to putting your contacts in, the light that enters is either shining in front or in the back of your retina, leading to blurred vision up close or far away. Once the contacts are in, the light shines directly on the retina, or at least closer to it than before, depending on the extent of your vision deficit.

Daily lenses are a special type of contact lens you put in your eyes each day. You then wear those contacts throughout the day. At the end of the night, instead of soaking them, you merely throw them away. The next morning you put a new pair in.

How Daily Contact Lenses Can Benefit You

For one, since you toss daily contacts out rather than letting them soak in a solution, your risk of infection and other complications is minimized. Those with dry eyes may find this option to be more comfortable because the lenses don't have time to dry out.

You also won't have to deal with caring for extended-wear lenses. For instance, if you have extended-wear contacts, your optometry specialist will send you home with cases and contact solution. You'll then have to remove your contacts and soak them.

Daily lenses may be cheaper in the long run than longer-lasting contacts. Think about this. What happens if you accidentally rip a lens or lose one when you're paying a few dollars per lens? With dailies, the cost is relatively inexpensive, so you'll likely spend less out of pocket.

Various Prescriptions

When you visit our practice, you'll undergo a comprehensive examination to determine your prescription. We'll then help you decide on the best type of contacts for you. Daily lenses come in various prescriptions, so you'll more than likely be able to get dailies.
